RE: Mt 1000 yds
For input on match changes, as requested by Hipshot at the match....
I thought about it a little and this is my idea/opinion.

It is called the "MT 1000" so all targets should remain at 1000yrds.....I heard several voices call for longer distances...but as was mentioned the farther targets would run a lot of folks out of sight adjustment. (and none of us kept that many on them at 1000Big Grin)

So rather than add a bunch of distance changes...let's just change up the targets shapes (this should add and element of excitement and challenge to the match).. and leave them at 1000yards.
(if it ain't broke don't fix it)

I would love to see these 4 targets all at 1000yards.
Target 1... Buffalo
Target 2..Big Square
Target 3.. Big Octagon
Target 4... the Quigely Diamond...This will give us 4 distinct shapes and that little Diamond ought to satisfy/challenge the folks that want to shoot farther ranges, while still keeping with the 1000yrd spirit of the game and still allow everyones sight to reach the target.

And since you have the available space...the highlight of a long range match for me would be a 10 shot side match of the famous, very long range shot...The Billy Dixon!!, 1538yardsTongueBig Grin

I owe A big part of it to Bryan...The transfer bar broke on my rifle right in the middle of the second target string, so I was out of the race.

Shadow4 stepped up and offered to share his rifle with me so that I could continue in the contest,,,THANK YOU BRYAN (Brian?) It was a tough time had by most trying to keep rounds on target with the light/switching winds...but it sure made for a lot of laughsTongue

Wes,

You're welcome sir, it's kinda of a kick in the pants to be in your company, & I'd of not been able to stand myself knowing I had enough ammo for you to shoot my rifle & ammo & not have offered. That would have sucked big time had you had to go home 5 hrs & only got to shoot 2 targets.

Savannah says that you owe her $10 for the wind reading you were doing.Tongue

This is what makes this sport so great. Every shoot I have been to this kind of thing happens and many times the lender get beat with his rifle. We in this part of the country have great ranges and wonderful people and that after talking to shooter from other parts of the country I for one have taken this for granted. thanks to all and to the people that have the ranges, hope we will this for a long time. RE: Mt 1000 yds
Anyone remember what they were using for windage most of the time?
I had right at 20 minutes.
Just trying to get a feel what this bullet takes compared to others.
Not sure of its speed, but was pushing it with 90 gr Swiss 1.5.

12.5 most of the time but 7.5 from one shot to the next at times.
35 gr blackhorn , 520 gr money bullet

RE: Mt 1000 yds
Been pretty busy since I arrived home
It was a great shoot and great weather
As for format, I have agree with Al
One thing about this shoot is the standardized yardage levels the field for all shooters and spotters. Everyone shoots 1000yd targets in the same weather and light conditions. Only long range gong shoot I am aware of in our 4 state area that has fixed yardages.
Eyesight is getting worse so may have to switch to scope. Could not see Target 3 or 4 very well...about half the time...afternoon lighting conditions and background contrast has most to do with that for me.
This getting older thing is really for the birds!
Great Shoot...Great Folks...Great Time
Thanks to all who organized, setup and cleaned up...much appreciated by this old coot.

RE: Mt 1000 yds
I was using 24 minutes of windage by the last target with the big 50,Semtav. I like the targets fine the way they are,but would still go no matter what they changed them to as far as the distances go. However a side match at 1200 would be very sporting, say 5 or 10 shots with say 10 or 20 bucks to enter sort of like they do up at Ekalaka, for part of the pot or however.

Congrats Randy. You and Loyce obviously came to shoot. Hear tell she also won the unawarded "Most Improved" trophy too.!!

Al doesn't allow "money" shoots on his place, so a 1200 side shoot would just have to be for bragging rights.
