Can anyone recommend a good book on all the old black powder rifle cartridges..?

I am wanting to learn what some of the old 40 and 44 cartridges were.

The obsolete cartridges section of the Cartridges of the World book will give you a broad idea about those. That's about the easiest to find resource I can think of right now
