RE: Time to continue load development with my .44-77.
Kurt,
I am planning on making Merrill for the July 2nd match.
Arnie was going to have a match July 16th, but I don't know if that's still a go.
In August I am looking hard at going over to Cadillac, Michigan for their mid-range match on the 6th and 7th. Then Lodi on the 19th, 20th & 21st.
I don't have any other match dates after Lodi. I will have to look at Alma for September. I've got their match schedule somewhere.
Alma with be pushing it for distance and it will depend on gas prices some what. If gas gets to $6 it would well over $200 dollars to get to Alma and back home just for gas. Add in coffee and I'm not sure I can afford too much of that stuff.
You need to be more careful my friend! You've been beating yourself up pretty bad lately.

Jim, yes that 86 and 89 load both need a closer examination. Either one looks good but those 3 shot touching in target 4 sure gets a fellers attention.

Jim,
Going to Rapids and Merrill the round trip for me was $373. But I fought 30 mph+ dead on head winds for 300 miles going home.
I would like to make at least one Alma match.

Jim,
Kurt,
I,too figure on making the Merrill gong on July 2.
AND
I do have a July 16 BPCR gong match and then an August 6 300/600yds Paper Match at Rapids.
I figured the Aug 6, will be a good one before Lodi.
Also, thinking about doing a 200yds 22 rifle zeroing/practice for the Aug 19 Lodi 22 match
after the BPCR Paper if we are able and willing .

Ahh Arnie,
If I cant see the 100 yard Palma target just how do you expect me to do the 200?
I guess if I want to do those matches I better look for a 2" unertl

Kurt,
I have a scope on my .44-77 and on my .22 and neither is coming off anytime soon. I know my eyes are dimming on me and I struggled enough last year to see the targets with irons.

So, I loaded up 5 each of the two loads that shot those incredible groups yesterday and today. Plus a fouling shot. I will try to shoot these tomorrow. If either or both happen to repeat that level of accuracy I will be happy, happy, happy! Then I will move on to 10-shot groups.

RE: Time to continue load development with my .44-77.
Jim,
There is no shame having to use a scope.
There was a time I used a 1/8 MOA dot and I still have one scope with one on my HP rifle and I cant see the dot now.
At the Palma match I could not see the cross hairs using the DZ scope on the black target and it has a darker hair than the MVA's I have. I had to look at the horizontal and vertical lines outside the black and judge the center and by the time I shot the third target I had that down pretty good.
When all was over Arnie mentioned using the post with the HP rifles and I also used the post with them and sometimes I used the post at Lodi but I lost the fine line of white under the black bull and it hit me why not hold the scope at 6-o-clock where I can see the cross on the light paper.
I'm going to the range tomorrow when I get back from physical therapy and get a 200 yd 6 o-clock hold on the .44, .38 and .22 to see how I get along with that.
As much as I dislike using a scope I have to adjust using one if I want to keep making shoots.
