Continuing with my new Shiloh 77
Quick report. I have not had much shooting with this rifle as my health has suffered a set back since it came early in the summer. The rifle is beautiful and fit and finish is first rate! Can not post pictures as the last up-date of my computer lost my connection to my e-mail function. Have not got that straightened out as of yet. I had Manson cut a 45-70 match chamber reamer to Brent's drawing and It came spot on. Starline brass annealed and full length sized with my older RCBS die to minimum .443 BACO bullet patched to .450-.4505 an the bullet fit is perfect in the barrel. Slight resistance when chambering and extracts the cartridge with no movement of the bullet. Fire form load used 75 grains of OE 1.5 with 2 .030 vegi fiber wads ( I could not get a .060 .460 poly started into the case.) Shot very well at 200 yards. Brass after firing 2.100. Base is.520 and at the mouth is .474-,4745. A .450-.4505 bullet is a perfect case fit. I was looking for a case that would not need to be resized and accept a patched bullet snugly. Careful insertion worked great and bullet will turn but not move when turned upside down and bumped. I expect to get 78-80 grains of powder depending on density. Hope I am able to get range time in the fall and work this rifle and chambering out. I am very pleased with this rifle and chambering!

Randy you will really like that rifle. Shiloh did a beautiful job recreating the 1877. If you ordered the standard Shiloh chamber it will be pretty straight forward as far as reloading. My 74 44-77 uses Loomer's paper patch chamber and I can use the brass fireformed and just load a bullet into the case with no resizing or a slight neck sizing depending the bullet I load. Target loads I just insert the bullet and go. Hunting I slightly neck size with a bushing die to hold he bullet so it will work under field conditions. The Match reamer I used is a minimum dimension chamber and calls for a different loading system. It is tight in the body and the neck. I size the initial case with the die down on the shell holder to be sure it will chamber with no resistance. After fireforming the neck is just right to insert and hold a patched .450 bullet. I do chamfer and deburr on each loading.

Thank you for that, yes standard chamber as I have had such good results with their regular chamber I saw no need to change it for my purposes. The 1877 Sharps is the most handsome single shot rifle ever made in the US in my estimation.
