Don't know twist rate, haven't checked it yet. I ran a few really tight patches and pulled a little lead out. I did run a bore scope in.... Someone did a very rough throating job. Might have to find a 40 cal paper patch throater and do a very light clean up.

Where can you rent a 7 degree throating reamer?

I've been on the usual sights but only find full chamber reamers.

Jim,

I have a .40-70 throating reamer made for the Shiloh but I have used it for cleaning the throat in my Browning .40-65 but it's not a good idea to use a T handle to do this job because you won't have back support using a bushing in the rim recess to keep it inlign with the bore properly the barrel would have to be pulled and chucked up in the lathe to do it right.
Also using this reamer it would be best to make a chamber cast to make sure the neck diameters are the same. I lost the specks for this reamer do to a computer crash and I don't know if it's a 5º/2.5º compound or a 4º
I haven't figured out how to post a picture here on the PM section.
I hope flicker works.

PT&G might have some rentals or if you think you want to use mine your welcome to use it.

Kurt

The cast above the .40-70 is the degree what this reamer will cut.
The .44-75 cast has a 5º transition

What is the angle on the 45-90 right above the 40-65. Either angle should clean up the current throat. It looks like they use a reamer with saw teeth.
