I see verticals that run maybe 3" @200 yards on and off along with very little verticals. It just works on me when I see this going on so last night I changed my wad stack again for the .44-100 using the .401-505 DD bullet that is shooting very well but I do see vertical spikes using it.
Today I went to the range and they had a 3 gun match so again I had to use the 100 yard range but 100 yards will show the vertical also.
The DD bullet just fits in the fired case using 55 Yellow paper and it's a very hard push to get it the case .100".
The wad stack I used I call the Orio cookie wad stack

two .060 fiber wads with a .060" dense cork between them. I figured this would act like a ring on the piston sealing the gas better when the two hard wads compress the cork and expand it sealing the gas behind the bullet instead letting it pass by before the bullet clears the muzzle. I think gas leaking by is the cause for the verticals I see on and off.
Well it worked. I got a flat line vertical with 10 shots. BUT it also caused a problem......if you need cases stretched this will work doing this

I pulled case necks as much as .023" that pulled up into the throat. I don't know if the tight fitting bullet has a play in this or not or if the cork wad gets expanded to tight. I think the latter has a play in this. With out using a lube wad that gets cut with the case I don't have the lube on the case mouth wall to reduce the friction.
But it sure made the holes on the paper look good. Going back in the morning when I can use the 200 yard range and I put some dry lube on top of the over the powder wad and seated the cork and another wad over it.
