RE: C Sharps 1874
Hey Mike,
My new rifle tapers to 1.210" at the muzzle, don't know the weight, don't have any scales in the house, but, at 32"s it feels every bit as heavy as my 30" 16lb bull barrel #1 Sporter 45-110.
I'm going to shoot it tonight with the 750gr grease groove hunting load I use in my 11.5lb 50-90 hunting rifle, it fires the bullet at 1365 fps, this new rifle with the longer barrel fires it at 1383 fps with a 9 fps extreme spread, i'll find out at dark thirty tonight if it's going to shoot this load.
After putting this 750gr grease groove bullet through 8 or 9 feet of bedded 1800lb Eland bull i'll never roll paper for my 50's, they're just straight hunting rifles to me.

RE: C Sharps 1874
We need pics of course. Sounds like fun! I had a roller in .50-70 and it was a hoot to shoot. I need to get an 1874 in a .50-90 to try out. Maybe a Rough Rider with a 28 inch standard 1/2 round barrel should make around a 10 lb gun

The 750gr grease groove bullet it loves, before and after penetrating 9 feet of bedded bull eland, .338 cal partition for scale.
Impressive performance

RE: C Sharps 1874
Thanks for posting the pics pacecars, hope I'm not muddying up Caprocks thread too much, this C-Sharps with standard wood and colors is a no bones #3 Sporter hunting rifle, maybe it can give some folks here an idea of what they may be looking for or may want to have built.
I was more than happy to see this new rifle shot my hunting weight 50-90's bullet with less than one inch 5 shot accuracy, I don't have to buy another mould!
