Tolloffson rifle

RE: Tolloffson rifle
Yup getting things beyond the regular offering costs a bit.
The more I see about this old stuff, I'm not real sure that the rifle cranks back in the day didn't do a lot of the same things we do today. For instance there have been bullets and moulds found for 45's back in the day that are .446 diameter, and patched to 451 or so. Seems like the more we learn the less we really know.

Another thought on a possible Tollefson gun would be a 40-90 bn in a 16 lb barrel. Standard 16 twist will hurl a 415 gr bullet just fine to the 1k line and the recoil would be completely controllable.

Ya and not all bullets used were patched. GG were also used.

I been debating a .40-90bn. I have a .40-65 Browning BPCR and I have the reamer that will cut the chamber but I been waiting for some good reports before changing the chamber. Tongue

The 40-90 is a good shooter. But it's not for the recoil shy. This #1 Shiloh with the standard weight barrel is a handful when that charge goes off. But I think that Browning would be a good candidate for it. But it might be a better idea to put a different barrel on, just in case that big azz bottle neck didn't work out like you wanted.
