Load consistency
Just wondering about an old topic, loading by volume or weight of powder. Which is more important in getting consistent accuracy? I use a Belding and Mull to charge pistol cases with BP and don’t weigh charges. Can the same be done for a 45-70, realizing there will be weight variation, or is weighing each charge necessary? Assuming that each charge is compressed to maintain a consistent powder column height.

RE: Load consistency
Depends largely on how consistent the charges are from that measure. Weigh a few and see how much variation there is from the drop. Then load a few cases weighed and a few from the bm , shoot them and see what the target tells you.
