45-110 and a tough old whitetail
Gunner opened the Oklahoma general gun season today by rattling up a bruiser of an old whitetail on the ridge behind his house. The big old eight point came to the rattling horns looking for a fight, and had one of his main beams broken as well as some other points. Gunner dumped him from the ground at 30 yards with his bull barrel 45-110 and a 535 grain paper patched bullet. Gunner sent me the cell phone pictures, and I forwarded them on to Stephen for posting.

Gunner has one more tag left in Arkansas and is there on a hunt with his family. He is having a heck of a year, and is loving every minute of it. It couldn't happen to a better guy. He hunts hard and hunts tough places other people don't go in to, and earns every bit of his success. Shoot straight, rdnck.

Thank You too rdnck, I gotta get out of the stoneage and learn to post pics, with still carrying a flip phone and not even facebooking, I have a long way too go.

Saw a nice yearling doe over in Ar this weekend, let her go, really enjoyed hunting with my uncles, only have two of the seven left, killing or not, sharing a camp with good old Patriotic Veterans is a hell of a way to spend a weekend ;]

Now to get after some of these Oklahoma deer when the work gets caught up a bit.

The little 40-65 will be back on duty.

I'm waiting to see that hunt results Gunner.

I have a back yard full of deer and no tag. Shot gun/ML season ended last night and this guy has been chasing more then a dozen does around in my yard for more then a week. I guess they know were they are safe. Smile I'm going down to see if I can get a archery tag jet.

Thanks Kurt and Rick, the results are in the Broken Antler Buck thread, that old brawler didn't have much head-gear left but was still up for another fight ;]

And yes, you need an Archery tag ASAP Kurt, hope you can arrow him.

Hello rdnck, if the wind switches to out of the North this afternoon, I'm gonna sneak that 40 up the mountain, I know where a big buck lives up there, maybe I can pick a dust up with him.Big Grin
