Another choice
The Shiloh 50 1 3/4” 425 killed two deer last year. My son got first blood with it on a nice doe and a couple days later I killed a doe with it. The gun performed flawlessly. I was at the Cody museum and saw a couple original 50 1 3/4”’loaded with the 473 bullet so I decided to load up around 25 of these for deer and antelope hunting this year. The 40/50 BN needs to make meat this year and so does this gun. We have two deer tags, two antelope doe tags and my son has an elk tag yet. Hopefully we will get a chance to work this 50 out with a heavier bullet.

RE: Another choice
Those look pretty nice Stephen! My Shiloh Military Rifle in 50-70 shoot the 500 grain BACO bullets both their swaged and my cast very well. I've shot them at 200 yards and both bullets are more than capable of bringing home the game. I generally load them in front of 70 grains of OE 1.5 with a lube wad between 2 OJ card wads. Still messing with seating depth to get a good dirty shooting load. If I go with thinner paper I will need a Meachem bushing sizer die to get the proper fit. Good Hunting!

RE: Another choice
Thanks Eric. I’ve always wanted a 50-70 Military Rifle. One of these days Smile
