It's deer & turkey time
Archery deer season has started here for the next 3 1/2 months so I looked for some jerky in the freezer and it's all gone so I took a couple 5# Buff meat roasts out and ran them through the meat grinder and made some snack sticks this time instead of jerky. I made a big bowel full of ground Buff meat and got the spices in and stuffed into casings and let it sit in the fridge over night to give the cure time to work and in the morning I stuck them in the smoker with apple wood chips for smoke for 2 1/2 hrs at 200 degrees. I must say that I outdid my self with these. They will be good when sitting under a tree.

Yup sure is Smile Now that I been having time away from casting and loading I been busy making goodies. Apples weren't worth eating so I ground some up and have 15 gallons of apple wine brewing and the Grand Kids help me pick more and I sent 10 gallons oc Cider home with them. And Carol and I Steamed out 5 gallons of very good grape juice as well as apple juice and canned that for winter and canned the steamed out apples and made sauce out of that. Also the Cranberries are in season so we have four gallons of juice from that as well as the pulp saved and froze for baking later on use.
Today I made some crispy cream donuts only wanted to make a dozen but I made a mistake and added to much milk and ended up with around 30 don't know for sure because Carol and I been munching on them when I was running the donut cutter Tongue....I have a feeling that I will be putting back on the 35 lbs I lost LOL.

We didn't get anything from the fruit trees this year except for the pie cherries, everything else got whacked with the late freeze and the high winds. So we'll be doing storebought this winter.

You've been busy.

I have one batch of white wine going, canned some pears, just about to dry some Stanley plums, make some adult cider, and if ripe enough start on some good Red wine (Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet).

Deer season this coming weekend, elk right after (haven't seen an elk for weeks but they could get chased in).

Maple bars.. cinnamon twists... I can't seem to get my truck to go past a bakery. It's turns in and quits. Nothing I can do about it either or it won't start until there's a bag or box on the passengers seat. Big GrinTongue

Don I think to much rain can almost be as bad as not enough.
All of my trees are snarly and covered with fungus and wormy. Spraying did no good and some of my problem with the trees is neglecting them by not pruning them for several years.
The Deer and Bees sure like what is on the ground and I filled the loader bucket and took them to the neighbor for his horses.
