RE: Sharps?
Hello, Mike. I have an early (1976) Shilo 1863 percussion military rifle in .45. Sent it back several years later for double set triggers & early style tang sight. This hasn't been shot much..and it's been awhile since it's last range outing..I have been wanting to try some new bullets & loads out.

RE: Sharps?
I have 3 of them, I don't know how I ended up with so many, but I have more fun shooting these than any other guns I own. I have a shiloh military in .54, a shiloh carbine in .50 and a pedersoli military in .54.
The shiloh military is early, #558 and is probably the best shooting gun I own, 1 7/8" groups @ 100 yrds being normal. I load 50grs. (volume) 2ff and a ring tail bullet, just seat the bullet with a short starter and dump in the powder and have at it. It's accuracy surprised me. The Pedersoli is drilled and tapped for a tang sight, which I hope to install one of these days, should be interesting to see how well it shoots when I can see!
How does my serial number compare with yours, earlier or later? I bought all of these second hand so I don't know when they were made.

Hello, Mike. You've sure got that Sharps shooting nice! It's been so long, and I never saved targets like I should have I can't remember what accuracy I was getting..but I remember being impressed. I was only shooting a 300gr. bullet..if I try again, I am going to use a heaver slug. That #558 is surely a very early one. Mine is #1248. Best of luck!

RE: Sharps?
Thanks. I always figured my gun was really early, but I wasn't sure when they started making them.
