Badlands 2017 Results
The 2017 Badlands Match is history, in more ways than one. This was the second running of the One Miler with 10 entries and twice that many spectators. Ken Heier of Bismark, ND won the match with six hits out of twenty shots. Jim Hovet of Antelope, Montana took second with four hits and Don Kinko, another Montana man took third with 3 hits.
9 Juniors battled for class honors in a field of 43 shooters in the .22 match. Gunnar and brother Grant Larson took first and second and Dane Nelson took third. All North Dakota boys.
Top honors in .22 and Lever Action went to the mighty man of Forsythe, MT, Dave Gamble who shot a perfect score in both matches. Tom Heaps nailed second and Mike Buchholz came in at third in the .22 match with Jim Hovet and Dave Setera, both of Montana, at second and third in the Lever Action shoot. I am spending next week with a cutting torch making those steel plates smaller.
Penny Thompson took first Women's in the .22, followed by Linda Clendenen and Lynn Buchholz.
In the Lever Match, Linda Clendenen traded places with Penny Thompson, with Linda snatching first with a 35 of 40. Montana woman Lori Jensen took third.
The Long Range match saw some familliar faces in the first three slots with South Dakotan Mike Buchholz at first, Dave Gamble at second and Dave's dad, Gene Gamble at third in the open class. Reliable champion, Linda Clendenen took the Womens first with Penny Thompson at second and Lori Jensen third.
It was hot but the winds cooperated by being mainly head on and just enough cloud cover on Sunday for the Long Range match so we did not boil. The fun is over here at the Badlands for this year but we want to see all of you next year.
P.S. I will post the score totals as soon as I can get Don Mc to help.
