Choices, choices
Undecidedto many choices.
Found the no wipe no blow nuervana in the 44-77 this afternoon. It's 80 grs of KIK 1.5 with a Muzzleloading specialty lubed felt wad and a walters .030 fiber wad under one of those bullets that Kurt sent me from his Brooks mould copied from an original bullet except for the base hollow. The exposed patch and bullet nose was wiped with a drop of jojoba earlier today.
Ten rounds all found the target at 200,150 and 100 with the ladder sights. No blowing no wiping.
Then without any wiping etc, I went to the other side of my belt and went to work on the tank buster with 78 grs of KIK , a 1/8 lubed felt wad smuched between 2 .030 fiber wads and the exposed patch and bullet nosed contaminated with the jojoba. But I only 8 rounds and then had to wipe 9 and 10, but think the biggest problem was those last two left me paper rings.
I know I can do 10 rounds with the KAL bullet set to 1.1 ... but I have been using the tube with those.
Won't have time to test any more loads now before deer and antigoat season opens monday....
Huh Which load to fill the belt with......Oh the choices...Cool

Don...cool man. i also found a good hunter load for my 120 using the cookie for added lube. makes a world of diff with all my loading but with the short 45-70 case i cant get as much powder as i want for the wanted power so i have elected to stay with my modern 375 this year again but...look out next year. think i got most of the bugs worked out for hunting rounds and the 458 winny on a ruger action is coming my way as well with the 640 grain patched bullets that fill the throat.

do tell about the deer n goats this year...im always interested in harvesting with a vintage type weapon...will you go for elk this year?

Ted sometime if you put an order in with Midway, throw a bag of those muzzleloader specialty felt wads in with it. They're dry lubed with something called 2000? anyway the stuff sure works good.
I will post up some pics if and when I get connected with a goat or deer. I do have a type 6 elk license for here at the house, so I can still get a general and go hunt a real elk somewhere, which I just might do. But I understand the road back into the valley where I've done my elk hunting for the last 35 years has been shut off, and I'm not of a mind to try and pack back in there... So the best part of elk hunting this year might be catching a mess of rainbows out of Hog Park Res, and maybe poppin the head off a bluegrouse with the 44... But stay tuned sportsfans, we'll be back to see the exciting conclusion....

Don.

I think the tank buster with the reduced nose would be a sure loader shooting dirty.
But why are you worried about taking multi shots? 1 shot 1 Kill Exclamation Smile
