RE: Full length scope
You can drill out the eye cup to a big enough hole to let lots of light in.

RE: Full length scope
Trapper, the 9/64 diameter hole should be easy enough to put in your sight aperture, but you will need to do this job on a drill press; but you already knew that I bet. Use a good quality drill bit and drill a few practice holes threw similar metal before doing the aperture. A little cutting oil on the aperture wouldn't hurt anything either. A Hadley eye disc is really useful in target work to adjust light in the aperture to the shooting conditions. Not so good for hunting, because it gives you 1 more thing you may need to adjust before shooting, and especially if Moby Buck is already thinking of exiting and going to the next zip code. Barrel sights are hard to beat for hunting.

RE: Full length scope
Yes, I am aware of the drill press. I also have a little lathe I could chuck it up in. I was reading on the Hadley cup it only opens up to .115 that's not quite 9/64"(.140). I think I need all the light I can get. My main problem is that 1/2 hour before and after daylight. I can't seem to be able to find the front sight. I understand the less variables the better. That is why I am shying away from the scope. It doesn't sound like the scope is the answer anyway. I have an extra eye cup to just in case I screw it up.
Thanks,

Trapper, the half hour before/after period can be a real problem even w/ perfect vision especially if some fog gets thrown into the mix, too. That's where the copper alloy blade front sight can make all the difference.

RE: Full length scope
Well Thanks everybody that gives me a whole lot of things to try. I will dig thru my change jar and find a suitable penny. Now between weather and work just need to make time.
Thanks again,
Trapper
