Finishing a couple new rifles

No it's not a 100% pure tung oil. It does contain Tung Oil along with mineral spirits and other oils. There are a bunch of Tung oil rub finishes on the market. I don't want to use 100% alone tung oil it tends to need to reapplied with use outside. Yes it penetrates on it's own deeper then tung oil blends. I just like Formsby's rub in finish. It is durable and stands up to hard use. I need that on my gun stocks in all climates I shoot in.

Well heck I like it too.....just thought I'd bring up that its not pure stuff.

Unless I'm badly mistaken Formbys is not pure tung oil. It has some poly in it.

I am using pure 100% Tong oil on my new Shiloh with xxx custom wood.
I use a slight touch of oooo steel wool between coats, and then finely after it''s really dry, rub it down with oil and rotton stone . .
This takes the shine off slightly.
