OLD "E" weight

Hey guys I am making my loads for the trapdoor for the WSU internet shoot and I am using OLD "E" 2f powder do any of ya all know the weight in grs that 68 grs in volumn is to set the scale for a baseline? I have the lee 3.1cc dipper.

I am going to load 68grs 2f with a BACO 405gr HB bullet in starline cases.

Just adjust your powder measure until it drops a weighed 68 grs. With the 405 gr bullet I'ld just go right to 70 and maybe 72 and be done with it.

I can't help you much, but my perception is it's lighter. No science behind that opinion, just perception.

When Eynsford first came out. I ran a check on it and a 70 gr volume measure (muzzleloader measure) of 2f 0E weighed 68 gr. on the scale.

Here is where I am as of now on first load, a trial, put 68 gr's weighed in the case measured down was .240 down figured out compression needed to seat the 405 bullet needed .5 comp.
Set up compression die and compressed .5 to .740 down required for bullet to seat on powder. Didn't use a drop tube either just poured slowly thru the funnel and tapped case a few times. Didn't even have to push hard.
No wad as I am using the HB bullet and am going to use the recomendations in Spence's book for the first 15 loads to shoot the sight ins and the 10 for score.
For the WSU match do they all have to be done all at once then clean or do 5 then wipe then 5 more?

Just shoot your ten , however it works out for fouling control.

Don't know if this makes a difference or not but I am left handed so I will be shooting this thing left handed. :roll:

Inserted bullet went in nicely to correct depth and crimp was good overall length was 2.470 a little short but with this bullet It won't allow it to be longer and use the crimp. Also using SPG lube they are pre lubed as delivered. Will do all the rest like this then go shoot them see results. hock:

Tom, Woody, et al what would be the degradation in accuracy if i shorten the barrel to 32" or even 30" and recrown it with the proper radius crown? I am thinking it would easier to shoot for extended time if the overall length was reduce so there is less out front overhang leverage?
