RE: Something Different
That's one serious bit of artillery Rick. What vintage and where is it located ? Maintaining a good cheek weld on this one may be an issue me thinks..Tongue

We have several at our local city park by the Civil War Memorial and in front of the Court House in a neighboring town but mounted solid not like that one. And they are spiked Dodgy Smile
On a misty windless day it would put down some pretty heavy smoke cover.

While back I had the privilege of meeting Robert Gillmor and being invited to his cannon foundry. Price of admission was several pounds of used 308 & 06 brass from shooting High Power days (some of which he added to this crucible for this pour ;-) Mr. Gillmor's shop has provided cannon for Hollywood pictures. He is also an historic battle consultant. Old Fort, Ohio (hard to find on maps) is located near Fremont, Ohio. What a BLAST

RE: Something Different
Back in the seventy's a girlfriend of one of the bike club members I belonged to had relatives in the local Mountain Men group so we went to the Rendezvous held every year at Evanston Wy. over labor day weekend. The Mountain Men would walk to Evanston from Salt Lake over the Watasch mountains and arrive at the start of rendezvous.
We made sure we went to the cannon shoot range to watch the cannons some used coke cans lead filled, you could see them fly. They were all original guns, then the high light was the big 24 lb artillery piece shoot, it would shoot that ball long ways out there, plus big bang! Damn accurate too.
Also fun to watch the muzzle loaders shoot, lots of smoke. Lots of good food.
