Sad day for my powder locker
Today I loaded the last of my Dupont 1 fg for Lucrezia (my 50-90). I bought this back in the late 1970"s and boy's it was beautiful! Screened it to remove the fines and it really shot well. Nice shiny glaze and the fouling was not heavy but it does not burn very moist and needed to be wiped between shots. I know now how you feller's felt when they discontinued GOEX Express. I put up 20 rounds using the Accurate 51-590 two diameter paper patched bullet. 110 grains of powder with a .030 vegi card and a 1/8th inch soft cork wad. Compressed to seat the bullet .255 in the case. Bullet came out at 587 grains and patched with 100% cotton paper@.002". Base goes .512, Mid at .510 and top of the patch is .502. Very snug fit into fired un-sized Starline cases. Chamfered the mouth and very carefully started the bullet and rotated it down onto the wad column. Up ended and gave each a good press on the bench to make sure they were all the way down. They are tight and do not rotate. At this length they seat nicely and can be extracted without pulling the bullet. Hope to test them this week. The 1 fg GOEX also works very well and I have some more on order along with the KIK and Swiss 1 fg to test. Going to be a fun season!

Problem of always having a dependable supply. I am working with the current lot of KIK 2 fg and it is really good in some applications. The Old Eynsford 1.5 and 2 fg are also working nicely. My lot of Swiss 1.5 is also very good. The newer powders burn great and do give less fouling and are moist compared to older powders. Higher velocities are also a bit of a plus. Wish OE would make a 1 fg, I bet that would work well in the large cases. Will see how the "Big Fifty" works with the current GOEX, KIK, and Swiss.

I've shot all three of those powders in my 50, 45s,44, and 40. I only shoot Fg powder so I can't say about 1.5 or FFG but the all the Fg shot fine.

Thank's Stephen. Good to know they all will work as I've got a sample of each on order to test which one my rifle likes best. Sure do like running this rifle!!
