I ordered a mould from Tom at accurate mould and was wondering what kind of wad do you use. It's a 400 grain paper patch- .395 diameter and I have the paper to
Roll it to .400. I have LDPE , .030 and .060 and I bought some NAPA cork last night plus I have some Walters wads, .060,The bullet is on page 13 under # 48-400 P. Any suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks Bill

I have favored .060 poly with groove diameter grease grooved and paper patched bullets. I think they do a better job of sealing gas and prevent gas cutting. With bore diameter paper patched bullets I have been using .030 and .060 vegi fiber wads with a cork or felt wad for targets and a lube wad for hunting. I wondered about occasional flyers and when looking at Kurt's photos showing what gas blow by do to the bullets he has recovered I feel more confident with the wad stack to prevent this. One can only experiment and use what the rifle tells you works best.

If you're using those for target shooting, I would suggest a single wad punched from that thick Napa rubbercork gasket. If you're comptemplating hunting and target, you might want to see about some of the muzzleloader original dry lubed felt wads for the 38 cap and ball revolvers between the napa and the bullet base, along with wiping the exposed patch with jojoba oil.

Thanks Don, I didn't know if you used the rubber/cork by itself or with other wads. My 45-110 likes a .060 LDPE , dry wool wad and a .030 Walters wad with a 530 grain money- patched. But I have a lot of room in the case. I will only be target shooting and am using it in a CPA-40-60 16 twist .

Bill I've used that Napa stuff both ways, but mostly with the lubed felt wad because of doing what most folks say you can't do, and getting away with it...
I was going to get a sheet of ldpe when I placed this last order with BACO and forgot all about it. I'm wondering if with a strictly target load and wiping if that single wad by it's self might not be more the sufficient?
