RE: 45 acp powder

Some years ago, I used a lot of 700X in my .45 ACPs. It works well for standard hardball loads but there is little margin for error as it gets "hot" very quickly. If it were all I could get I would use it again today but better choices, e.g. Bullseye, Red Dot, Unique, are readily available.

RE: 45 acp powder
I like 23 gs of Black MZ with a coated bullet in my 45 acp. Runs about 760 fps+.

RE: 45 acp powder
For social purposes Federal Hydrashock ,45 ACP.
Bullseye 3.7-3.8 grains 185 Hensley & Gibbs # 130 plain or bb. 25 yard rapid fire (wont feed with factory recoil spring.)
Bullseye 4.2 grains 200 grain H&G #68 plain or bb 50 yard slow fire. (COAL critical in straight factory Colt 1911, can fail to feed on rough ramp.) Have not found more accurate loadings in 3 Match .45's for those purposes than these two. Both shoot 25 shot ragged holes at the specified distances my guns from a Ransom Rest.
Been using McCormick SS Mags for years in competition, total reliability so far. Get them from MIDWAY on sale.
Current Lyman Handbook about right for both 231 & Unique. I really like 231 for practice and plinking. Burns clean but has a steep pressure curve, do not exceed recommended maximum charge. Same goes for Bullseye.
BTW, Lyman Moulds work just fine in the old War Horse.

RE: 45 acp powder
I use Unique 6.2 grains with 230 gr. FMJ bullets with good results.

RE: 45 acp powder
Ramshot silhouette, works well in 9mm, 45acp and in 10mm. 5gr of bullseye works well dads 1911 45acp.
