RE: What group do you belong in?
Rick.
In the .30 cal my pick would be the 06 too. I got the 1917 Eddy when I was about 16 and the 03 A-1 about two years later and several A-3 after along with the M1 and the last was the M-1-A but the O-3 was my favorite that I used for the CMP.
That is what I got set up with the swaging to get a descent bullet back then.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

I've still got all the 30 caliber moulds Dad bought back in '48. Told me...."You want to shoot.....there's the lead....cast up your bullets!" He kept me supplied with powder and primers. Powder was $1.10 pound!! That 03A3 shot mighty fine with cast bullets. I used gas checks and kept velocity around 15-1600 fps. Killed many a big wood rat around Granddads corral and barn area! And a turtle on a log....was just history!!Big GrinWink I've got an 03A3 now that's 'bad news' back to 600 yards with the standard issue aperture! I'm shooting Sierra 168 gr. HPBT with 49 grs. IMR4895 and a F210M primer.

I shot cast bullets in the 2 groove 0-3 and it shot it very good. I don't remember the load but it came out of the old #6 Lyman cast bullet manual.

Never underguned Smile

7. .375 H&H Magnum
You’re a self confident, well rounded and well adjusted person. You are the Pete Postlethwaite of the cartridge world; never perfect for any role, but you show up in every damned movie. You are also a worldly person. You can order a drink in KiSwahili or Shona as if it was your mother tongue, and your luggage is well worn. Most of your passport pages are filled up, and you took out additional life insurance in the event you end up in some native village with a tire around your neck. Your daughter’s name is Holland, and like your favorite cartridge, you never go anywhere without a belt.
