Running the Numbers (Post your stuff!)
This is a technical post, but it also includes a request. Let's get that out of the way first:
Please keep on posting great stuff in our forum, because you're helping shooters you've never met.
I've been toying with the Google data for our site, looking at how it gets used, and potentially ways to make it better. One really interesting thing that I've found is how we've helped about 200 people learn more about shooting in just the past fourteen days. Here's a sampling of some of the search terms that lead people here...
"gas cutting with paper patched bullets"
"zack taylor bptr"
"c. sharps .45-90"
"pedersoli 430"
"paper patch bullets leading the barrel"
...and there's a ton more.
This all goes to show that you, dear forum member, are what makes this place great. Because of you and your posts, people are turning to Google to learn about shooting and are winding up here.
Also in the last fourteen days, 20% of our traffic has been people that didn't come straight here. They either searched and found it, or clicked a link on somebody else's page. (Probably a certain forum member's signature...)
And those are just the people who actually click. We've had about 9000 sets of eyeballs on links our forum pages via Google search in that same time period. It seems a lot of those are looking for the 'assra forum', which appears to have shut down.
Anyway, keep it up. We're making the world a better place in our own small way, and I'm proud to be a part of that.
As always, I'm taking feedback and am here to help wherever I can - admin@historicshooting.com
Thanks, Bob
