RE: Watch yer topknot
Huh Also somewhat puzzled by the lack of discussion on this particular incident, as it was at a somewhat major match...Undecided Jeez when that gun blew at the Quigley a couple years back, the net was ablaze with all manner of arm chair quarterbackin....Dodgy

Yeah but Don, nobody up in Montana tried to hide what happened. The match director and Forsyth R&P club kept everybody informed about what happened and how the lady was doing. Only person who needed to explain anything was her husband and why he was overloading an antique rifle with smokeless powder. Whether anyone thinks so or not that was a common sense safety violation and if I was on that line he still best look after his hide for that lack of safety. Good thing that Doc Lay and that other doc were johnny on the spot for her too as well as the Rosebud EMT ambulance crew. This safety violation could have been avoided by an RSO on the line with every group, no excuse for that. bobw

Me too-This is the first I have heard of it.
The last AD I had was about 2 years ago, my M-4 went full-auto due to a disconnector tip break'n. This occurred when I released the bolt on a fresh mag reload.
Almost needed a new pair of undies-----Rolleyes

it should be pretty simple ,when you have three guys working you need to take off your tools and keep them working , same at a range .. when you get a crowd you either have to assign a range officer or be the range officer , you cannot shoot and watch the line at the same time ,ESPECIALLY WITH A CROWD.

RE: Watch yer topknot
I saw the same thing here w/ the state highway patrol "swat team" several years ago at the outdoor range. I was the range officer that particular day. During the M14 rifle phase of the training I have never seen so many M14 rifles pointed in multiple directions w/ closed actions and magazines in place at the same time. I mentioned it to the officer in charge several times that this situation was not acceptible before he called a halt, and had me give a refresher on proper firearm handling on the firing line regardless of the firearm type. All were embarrassed, and range safety improved immediately; that was more than spooky. Some of their techniques for suppressing a violent situations were spooky, too.

Regards

We all tend to get too relaxed without such refreshers. That's why it is best to speak up before something accidental takes place.
