RE: Dennis Willing's repsonse
Well I finally found it!!! Yeah!! An actual agenda of the matchs... here it is for those thinking of attending, http://issuu.com/compshoot/docs/2014_bptr_program

Being new to the sport I really don't have an understanding of what the match even entails?? I hear things like "Iron Man" and "Creedmoor" mentioned at a few matches.. It sounds FUN, but there is so little information it has been hard for me to learn what was involved.

This program even has the costs detailed. This is very helpful when trying to figure out if one can even afford to attend.

RE: Dennis Willing's repsonse
Wes, the Ironman is a trophy awarded to the highest score among the shooters that shoot the entire match at Raton. This includes midrange position, midrange prone and the creedmoor. A person does not have to shoot all three disciplines, but that cuts you out of the Ironman if you do opt out of one of them.
The midrange position is 4 sighters and 10 for score off hand at 200, sitting or kneeling at 300 , and sitting, kneeling at 600.2days
Midrange prone all three targets are shot from prone. 2days
The Creedmoor is shot any position at 8,9 and 1000 yds. Unlimited sighters and 10 for score, this match is also shot 2 days.
For your entry you are firing 180 rounds or score over a 6 day period.

RE: Dennis Willing's repsonse
So if you shoot 42 rounds (10 for score+4 sighters) at every target, for six days, it would take 252 rounds to shoot the iron-man...right?? I might just have enough brass to do this! I realize that one would probly want more than 4 sighters at the creedmoor distances.

So "Ceedmoor" is just a fancy word for "Long-Range"??? I thought they shot different metal targets from free-style positions (no artificial rests like sticks etc.)

RE: Dennis Willing's repsonse
You shoot 42 rounds a day for the 4 days of midrange. (You don't have to take all 4 sighters) 30 minutes to fire each target.
The Creedmoor/long range match is 30 rounds a day for score for 2 days, the number of sighters is up to you and the head count on the rounds in your line box.35 minutes to fire each target
All targets are paper.
Taking 300 rounds is a pretty good idea, because the winds on the longrange portion can be a real fright trying to find the target.
You can camp in the campgrounds , or get a room in the competitor housing, or there are a couple of "rv" cabins, that are little log cabins with a bed in them.
