Better late than never ;-) I too have a Uberti HW in 38-55. After looking into less than expected accuracy it was discovered that my rifle has generous bore dimensions. After having a custom mold machined to make 0.384" dia. bullet (320 gr.) the accuracy has excelled. Uberti copied the original barrel measurement possibly.. They allow shooting dirty bore fouled with BP. Not the best technique but in the day might have been acceptable for hunting. With correct bullet fit this rifle has no trouble making silhouette hits at 500 yrd. Yup these are hanging steel targets that make nice noise. Not sure about tipping standing rams at that distance but it is still phun.

Better to have the "big bore" than suffer with a dad blasted .375 bore meant for the .375 Winchester. I am glad you discovered the means to accuracy but perhaps, had you not, I might have purchased your no good Italian gun on the cheap. I will any way, even if it does shoot.

Dan, good minds think alike. How do you think I purchased it I.E. after someone had put it on the used rack ;-) Possibly they had even tried copper skinned bullets (oooHhh ;-) M2
