4hrs of fun today learning my way around this thing. Still a bit to do. It needs the power of minimags to run via recoil. I had a few blown case heads. I need to lighten the firing pin spring as it is piercing the cases at times. You can see this in the comparison shot. It really dents the heck out of the rim


How the belt feed works. There are adapters, clips at end of each pair of adapters, dummy cases that then fit into spring adapters in belt

They went into this AR500 plate as seen. It's 28" wide by 30" depth. I've taught all the grandkids to just hold center mass; don't need a bull! First shot was almost center and I gave her a slight right favor on the second shot as the wind had picked up a bit. Not quite as much as I thought as the round impacted where she held!

Does anyone know of a good gas check cast bullet design that performs well in this cartridge? I'm interested in shooting this rifle w/ cast bullets in a local military/lever gun silhouette match this winter. That should be entertaining in North Dakota, huh?

Because of a lack of time I put a scope on it and will shoot it in the sniper class of the competition. So I bolted on side mount and a good scope I had lying around the shop and I was ready for testing. I had never shot a scoped rifle with an offset mount so this was going to be a learning experience on more than one level. I had some hand loaded ammunition as well as some Swiss ball.

Went out to the range and bore sighted the rifle at one hundred yards. First shot with military ball was at 2 o’clock in the five ring. Made the corrections and switched to my hand loads and proceeded to literally shoot out the X in the x ring, after every shot I would look through the spotting scope and giggle like a school girl. At one point I became aware of the other shooters at the range looking at me oddly.

But I didn’t care. I am still so amazed how these old rifles perform. Of all the other rifles at the range, none shot anywhere as tight a group as my old K31 by a wide margin. I cannot say enough good things about these rifles. If you get a chance to pick one up, do so, they are something special.]]>
