"Tweaking" a load

RE: "Tweaking" a load
Gary gave you some good tidbits to try.

I usually work up the load in 1 gr increases until I get good round groups. Once there I take it up .3 or down .3 grs till I find a happy spot in compression and the accuracy. In my smaller cases I use the Fed 150 Match Pistol primers with a wad of Filter Paper between primer and pocket to help headspace the primer and also for a primer wad. I start there as its a proven component. In the 2-7/8ths I use the old WLR's as I have a large supply of them and have proved to myself many times over they are one of the best primers for the 110, the fed LR Match also equal in performance.

I always anneal after every firing as is not only gives consistant neck tensions even though my PP loads have none, it gives consistant chamber seal and the Chronograph tells me that it works in single digit ES.

Something else most important, consistant grip and a firm one are a real boon to accuracy as these rifles torque a good bit. Kelley Roos has over the years made mention of that more then once it seems it gets lost in all the other chatter, Although I feel it is very important too. Having won a major bench rest bpcr match or two over the years, and losing by as little as .354 inches, I can not stress the importance of a good frim grip on the rifle. Rifles with a barrel foot are not nearly so effected by this (slug Guns) something to ponder on.
