Well, I contacted the seller and am sending it back for a refund. Sad

As an aside, a big one, the geometry of the action will not allow a cartridge of this length to be chambered. It looks like one would have to take enough off of the hammer that it may not even make contact with the firing pin!

Thanks for all the guidance Kurt and Don etal. I appreciate you helping me work through this.

Back to the drawing board on building my next rifle.
