The other opinions so far are that the lock is actually for a shotgun and thats its not original to the rifle, but again thats conjecture.

Your exactly correct on the stock---------broken and punky behind the bolster and tang and lock.

I did some light cleaning and de-gunked things and i don't really see any damage that would prevent bringing it back to life, i have the materials and equipement to build a new stock.

Cleaning the barrel shows sharp rifling and a tight patched jag pushes smoothly the length of the tube so it looks like thats not a problem.

When i get approved oer on longrifles perhaps i can find out more
