RE: Paper Patch question
Match/load report:
Shot our club silhouette match today---conditions were HOT pushing 102 by my trucks thermometer---sunny, light variable wind
I built 4 loads 65,70,75 and 80 grains of Swiss 1 1/2 behind a 500 grain BACO 0.444 Creedmore wrapped to 0.4505, normal wad column with a 0.140 long lube cookie
Started with Turkey's--------killed 2, shot all around the edges, not the best way to start the day--group was roughly round with no strangeness like fliers
Ram's next-----killed 3, better but still terrible------again a round group all around the edges of the critters
Chickens---killed 2 of the feathered fiends-----a 4 minute group formed just a bit low--------things are looking up a bit
Pigs---i had loaded the 70 grain cartridges to shoot at the pigs----i had also loaded 12 additional 65 grain rounds--------on the strength of the pretty nice chicken shoot group i decided to try the 65's at the Pigs.
First shot wide of the swinger---then next 4 hammered the swinger--the next 7 died in order----switched to the 70 grainers for the last 7 targets and CLEANED THE PIGS-----nice way to finish a tough test day.
Sooooooo next match will see loads from say 62 to 70 grains and see if i can do a bit better at the Turkey's and Ram's
Thanks to Dave B and the Ralph C for great spotting and ducking the scrap paper shreds
