438470 testing

RE: 438470 testing
I've been working on cataracts for about 3 years now and they has really become noticeable since the fall of 2020. It was bad enough that I have fought a bad astigmatism for 20 years and when using iron sights have not seen a round bullseye or aperture in all those years. Now if it's a little bit dark out I can not even see the target through irons. And most of the time for the past 5 or more years I have been unable to read the number boards. And my astigmatism makes all the numbers with any diagonal line look about the same, that is pretty much your 2, 3, 4 6, 7 and 9 and sometimes the 5. A Lot depends on how the numbers are made, but if any part is diagonal it will disappear. 1 and 0 are usually sorta good.

Learning to use a scope has not been a snap, but for the past two years I can at least see the target while using one. I doubt I will be able to compete with irons again and I have accepted that reality. All my rifles have been D & T'd for scope. The problem I have is the ones with a 34" barrel are not really usable with my 17" scope on 7.2" centers, only out to 800 yards. After that the front sight and the barrel interfere. My .44-77 has a 30" barrel and that works to 1000 yards, although at 1000 yards I am looking through the front sight. I can't bring myself to remove the front sights, it just ain't right!
Putting a scope on my .22 BPCR has really helped me kind of get the hang of it. That one isn't coming off either, I like it.
I need to find out what kind of scope setup will work on my 34" barrels and start working toward getting my Hepburn back up and running while I can still be shooting. I would appreciate any thoughts on a scope that would work.
