RE: 2022 Cheyenne Mid Range Matches
Info about using a bench when shooting at the Cheyenne, Wyoming Mid Range matches, both .22 and big bore. Have a good day.
Benchrest Rules for Any Position Eligibility The addition of shooting from a bench is being added to the Any Position in the BPTRA. Competitors proposed this in 2021 and it was voted on by attendees of the 2021 Creedmoor Nationals. An overwhelming majority voted yes. This is not a class, no specific awards will be allocated. Competitors must provide their own bench, unless otherwise notified. The bench must be able to be broken down quickly for movement between yard lines during a match, when necessary, as to not hold up progress of the match. The bench shooter must use bench top cross sticks. The sticks must be of traditional form factor and specifications according to BPTRA rules and guidelines, which include Match Director discretion. Sticks can attach to the bench or the base of the sticks and may be clamped or fixed to the bench. The attachment point of the base of the sticks must be a single pin or bolt, either attached to the table or base of sticks. Sitting height sticks may be driven into the ground ahead of the bench as well with traditional spikes of a reasonable length for conditions. This is at the Match Director’s discretion. No rear support is allowed, i.e. rear bag, padding or any other material that can support the rear of the rifle. The stock of the rifle must be shouldered by the shooter. The rear of the stock or arm supporting the stock may not contact the bench ahead of the elbow. No excessive padding or built up/supportive material may be on the bench for rest of the arms or elbows may be in place. Also, at the Match Directors discretion. A simple layer of uniform padding maybe be used to simulate what a shooting matt would provide. Elbow pads may be worn in conjunction with the layer of padding on the bench. Any safe seat may be used in conjunction with the bench. This includes a stool, box or chair. Any additional support restrictions that apply to the bench mentioned above, also applies to the seat used. When possible, competitors should submit pictures of their bench setup to the Match Director for eligibility ahead of any match they plan to attend. Questions and pictures should be sent to competitions@bptra.org
