I like rifles with round barrels and a good straight grained wood. You could give someone a horizontal buttstroke if they get out of line without breaking the stock. Checkering really sets it off.
The 77 just feels better when you shoulder them, mine does anyway, the grip does not feel bulky like the 74's and the pistol grip is a little closer to the trigger. The single trigger makes it even better for reach with my short fingers.
