I use a 540 grain Money bullet and 80 grains of powder in my Axtel 45-100. I would have to compress the Swiss quite a bit to get more powder in it and have it chamber. It does seem to shoot pretty good with that load. As soon as it's fixed I'll experiment with some other loads. I am planning to go to the long range shoot in Missoula in August and shoot it there.
Kurt, what happened to my Axtel is the firing pin broke and it is one solid piece with the transfer bar. So after the pin got fixed, I found it was still not firing every cartridge even with a pretty good dent in the primer. Kirk at Shiloh looked at it and determined the hammer was slightly misshapen. It was not hitting the transfer bar correctly or hard enough. He put one of their hammers on it and the problem is solved he says; I'll find out in Missoula. Carmen is about out of parts for these rifles.
Mine is an exact copy of the 1877 Sharps Overbaugh Creedmoor rifle. A fine piece of work too. It has a soule sight on it now for LR shooting.
