2013 Lodi Spring Match
Fellow BPTR shooters,

We have match dates for 2013 which we believe are firm dates. Please note the NRA matches are not yet registered that will be happening over the next month. I just want you to know what our plans are.
· BPTR Mid-States NRA Regional Long –Range Match is May 11-12, 2013
· BPTR Mid-States NRA Regional Mid –Range Match is June 1-2, 2013
· Winnequah BPTR Long-Range Match August 24-25, 2013
A couple of things that I want you to be aware of. You will notice in the match info that comes out this year that we use a modified Whittington Center’s minimum caliber rules. Which are:.
MINUMUM BULLET WEIGHT AND VELOSITY IS GOVERNED BY THE NRAWC NATIONAL GUIDELINES THEY PERTAIN TO MATCHES OF BETWEEN 800-1000 YARDS AND ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Caliber
Min. Bullet Weight
Min. Velocity

.38
408 (365) -400
1300 (1375) -1275 fps

.40
408-400
1280-1255 fps

.44
450-441
1240-1215 fps

.45
510-500
1200-1176 fps

.50
600-588
1200-1176 fps

+/- 2% VARIENCE APPLIES

The modification is to lower the bullet weight of 38’s from 375 to 365 with a 1375 velocity. It is much more practical to get to 1375 fps with a 365 grain bullet along with the fact that the 365 grain bullet at 1375 would be the flattest shooting (safest) rifle on the line. This is all an effort to allow you the shooter to shoot as you may in the Nationals. With that said we plan to start a log of load specs to be filled out at shooter pack pick up. This will give us a way to look at marginal loads and possibly chronograph selected loads pre match. Although we have not had any issues we want to insure pit safety. I likely just wasted some good key strokes on 95% of you as this is mostly targeted to the new shooter who shows up with a 38-55 and expects to compete.

On the mid-range match there has not been very much interest in the position match with only 3 competitors this year. Please let me know if you plan to shoot the mid-range Position match ( 200 yards off hand, 300 form sticks, and 600 yard prone). Honestly, it is danger of being eliminated and going to a straight prone match. If Mark was writing this he would ask if anyone is going to man up………

We look forward to a great 2013 season and the weather warming up again. I about froze working with the 38-72 yesterday…… a rifle that you are likely so see on the line next year.

Best Regards,

Cliff Gregg
