I found this price on 55Y,
http://www.artsupplywarehouse.com/prodDe...p?id=29029, not sure what the shipping is but I don't think that is a bad price. They also have other sizes available as well as the 55W which I think is the same price.
Sounds like maybe we need to talk Don into the purchase of a 1" micrometer. This link has them at a good price,
http://cdcotools.com/. That being said, I have been a machinist/toolmaker all my life, I have Starrette mics and also Etalon that are made in Switzerland. I also have 2 sets of mics from this company. The one set was purchased to have at home as I was still working for other people, I got the 0-3" set and then purchased a 0-75MM set for work. They are nice, they may need to be adjusted a little when you first get them, but that is normal. They are smooth, accurate and have a good feel in the hand. I also hate to admit all the good things about them because they are made in China. I just feel that for the quality and price they are hard to beat. I have purchased several items from CDCO and have not had any real problems with any of it.
