RE: Remington No 1 Creedmoor
when you rebarrel, you have the option of matching the rifling twist to the bullet.
in this case the bullet will be 1.55" long, and will require 1:12 twist.
this will do anything a std twist 44/77 can deliver, as it will have higher b.c. bullets delivered with good speeds.
there should also be room in the case for sealing and/or lube wads.
a fast twist 40/72 on steroids. this works, and the bigger version will have a bit more.
of course if you seat the bullet out in the 44/77 to hold more powder, and speed up the twist, things might look different.
stats on fast twist 40s are few and far between, as there are few of them.
however of the few out there, a high percentage of owners are happy with them.
also the few results with 40/85 ballards suggest that they shoot well.
just haven't heard of one of them with a fast twist yet.
keep safe,
bruce.
