RE: Olde Eynsford 2F in the .44/90
JB I wouldn't put to much stock in the bad rap some give OE. There are some folks that have tried it and didn't come up with anything they were particularly proud of. There are some who won't try it because it's GOEX, and there are some who claim it to be a bad powder, yet the one most vocal critic of it was out shot on 3 of the 6 targets at the nationals last year, by 3 shooters using OE. Wes Daems won the Quigley with it , and usually win someone wins the Q that starts a mad dash towards the winners equipment list,, but didn't happen that time and it does make one curious as to why. I can't remember the charge that Chip Mate uses in his 44-77 other than it's 2f OE, but that's been treating him very well at the 1000 yd match in Phoenix the last 2 years.
76 gr. of 1 1/2 with most bullets in the 44-77 seems to be pretty good, 77 gr. of 2f is also a good load, with either compress it how ever much you need to seat the bullet.
