RE: Knock me over with a feather!
Hi Kurt, What might it be about a woman putting up with one man for 50+ years that gets them ta thinkin about trying handguns;-) My lovely better half and I passed the 50th too and she also indicated new interest in wielding a handgun. Could be sign of the times no doubt but I am also pleased and proud to enable my partner. Fortunately I have good friend that owns an appropriate emporium & range establishment. Just to make it easier on and let wife sample independent points of view we signed her up for Woman's only NRA Basic firearms course. She passed that course and when it came time to select from all the handguns she was introduced to firing she indicated the Autos were to hard to pull the slide etc. No problem as you I went to the Bat Cave safe downstairs and retrieved a few wheel types. What fit her 5 foot tall frame and hands is a Ruger Securiy Six with 3 inch barrel in .357. It took no time at all to press together a few boxes of Light 357. I.E. 125 gr Berry's copper clad in 357 cases but at 38 Special load level. We have since enjoyed several indoor range sessions (she received a range qualification card right off). Might be her use of old feelings about former profession as secretary but she can place all here shots in middle of sheet of printer paper at mid and full length of the indoor range. After a session she hands me the box or two of empties with instructions to refill same ASAP ;-)
PS I have the Ruger LC9S in 9mm , it trigger pull is better. When out for evening in dark places it is filled with Speer Gold Dot +P short barrel HPs. These pills according to research make that little steel gat all that it can be. Might not be regular diet but if it has to go to real work not a problem. BTW There are larger magizines that fit this little piece. For carry with the larger spare I have 16 solutions total at hand.
