RE: Uberti 1876 winnie
I'm having a similar fun experience with a special purpose Lever rifle. The Ohio DNR has opened this years Deer Gun season to straight walled pistol and some rifle calibers. So for modest investment I picked up a Rossi '92 Win clone in 45 Long Colt, 24 inch Oct. barrel. One of the first mods was Marbles Tang rear sight. What a hoot, of course this required a new mold and fussing. I doubt it would be competitive at BPCR games but it will be nice toting about an 8 lb rifle rather than my '74 Sharps at near 13#. It's been a major workout to disassemble, clean, and hone the innards to make this humble rifle act like it's parent generation. It shoots economically and provides more trigger time which I need badly.
