Kurt, I have had my .50/90 Gemmer for 35 years and in that time the rod on that rifle has been used only two or three times. And at least two of those times the rod was used to help another rifle. Of course, I haven't carried only my Gemmer, and, in fact, it has become the camp gun more often than the primary hunting rifle. On the other hand, you might be able to remember several times when you would have used the rod, if you had it... Shoot sharp, Mike
