Yeah great looking frt sight Stephen. Last week I went to the Denver, Colo Gun Collectors Assoc gunshow held with the SCA show and saw a pile of original Sharps 74's, a lot of the Hartford guns still had this sight on them but very few were un modified. The old boys used files on them pretty hard to thin them narrower and shorter as well as reface the back side. I saw more than a few where they had hacksawed the base frt to rear thru the post and put something in for a blade. One original had hacksaw marks on top the barrel where the guy got to close slotting it for a blade install. The guy who owned that rifle only wanted $8000 for it,jeez . I also noted that the original bases came in atleast 2 different base heights. bobw
