I guess the answer would depend a lot on what you're going to use the rifle for.
Midrange, sillouette hunting,and the typical gong match , either the 50 or the 40 would be good.
If looking at Creedmoor etc, then the 2 7/8's is the better of the choices. Altho changing that down to a 2.4 or 2.6 then allows for more manageable recoil yet the ability to cover all the bases.
