I hold hard because of my shotgun shooting, try breaking a habit that you did 50,000 times a summer for 13 years, us shotgun shooters learned to pull gun in tight and hold head extra firm down, doing this everytime would easily make the head and gun move together real well. all the top shooters in my area did this with shotguns.

personally I also feel less recoil with extra firm pressure
