RE: found on youtube
don,
it is all part of the jigsaw that makes the big picture.
I think part of the slowness of the video is due to the requirements of making a video.
he has used the k.i.s.s. principle, sticking to absolute basics, and also does not have the really serious experience of some. it was of interest to see a b.n. cartridge.
you have to admit, the gun seemed to shoot fairly well.
gongs are good and have become a discipline approaching an artform.
not just any joe blogs can win a serious gong match these days.
far better guys shooting gongs with pp bullets than playing golf!
I remember the thing stopping me starting bpcr was a lack of understanding of the basics.
someone told me that one day, and things started to move quickly.
I would like to see people post here with alternatives and modifications to the video, so that newcomers can learn more from advanced experience.
keep safe,
bruce.

RE: found on youtube
Interesting Bruce... Certainly a pleasant surprise to see a bottleneck cartridge used and an original rifle as well. I find I keep coming back to try paper patching... and nearly always have good results when I do. Not fantastic perhaps but certainly as good as when 'I ' am using a grease groove bullet. That said..if I made a commitment to load only paper patch...and not 'dabble' now and again... I'm sure I'd get more confident with the process... and better results both in reloading..and at the range. The addition of a 'ladle' of meltedl lube is one I hadnt seen or heard of before ( other than grooved bullets being dipped ).. and wondered ..as did others as to how it would go over the fibre wad.
As you said though..it is an 'overview' as to what's involved.. and involves an original calibre.. vintage rifle and even takes into account a chamber cast, case forming, casting and even annealing. Every one of these facets requires some more attention to detail..but perhaps thats for the ' doer'...rather than the viewer.
