RE: Slug gun project
Seeing that your design is not an early design, definetly go small primer sealed.

Here in Friendship, everyone uses a sealed ignition with small pistol primers. Back in the mid 80's everyone switched from percussion caps to primers. Are you planning to make the sealed igniter with an interrupted tread? Harder to make make , but a lot handier than screwing it in and out each time.

Yes that is what I am going to make. My concern is it will be on an underhammer. It seems that the primer needs to be sitting in the cap, next to the firing pin to close the ignition . Hope this makes sense. Other words if the primer was put on the end in the barrel what would keep it from falling out while trying to attach the other part? I would love to see a picture of one.
Are primers allowed on all bench and slug guns at Friendship?

primers are only allowed on slug guns. I'll try to post a picture of the sealed ignition later today.

Ok I think I have finally came up with the design I am going to use for the sealed ignition. I have been working on burners for the gas forge I am making to do the case Harding look that I am going to put on the receiver and action. Hope to post some pictures in a couple of days.

Well I made it out the shop today but. Should have stayed on the couch. I messed up the tumbler for the lock and will have to make a new one. Shucks!

I am still waiting on gas forge parts to finish the slug gun project. So while I was waiting I made a second action for a table gun I have been wanting to make. Just finished it up.

RE: Slug gun project
Looking great, pic of one of my sealed ignitions, cap goes on top of firing pin, pin moves back to allow cap to seat.

Then the whole piece, plug/cap/firing pin is placed into gun, 1/2 turn to lock and seal, note protruding pin, tho not locked in this pic, still needs 1/2 turn

Now this is for caps, I could probably use a primer also, never seen a primer gun
