RE: New casting pots with built-in PID controllers
Are the Lyman, PID and RCBS, PID pots both China made?

RE: New casting pots with built-in PID controllers
I just looked over the RCBS Easy Melt and ran through the instruction manual and saw no mention of where the unit is made.

RE: New casting pots with built-in PID controllers
I've been considering the Easymelt as my next lead furnace but other than one private importer, the distributors here have yet to recieve stock. It looks like it will sell for 'around' $300+ Aud here... or $220+ USD. That actually represents good value here as we are fairly conditioned to being 'ripped off' as it were. I was curious if the pot is actually a little larger in diameter as it migh assist with ladle casting over the current standard diameter of 4" for the first model Pro Melt and the Lyman Mag 20. Anyone shed any light on that question ? Is the pot deeper ...or wider... ( or both )?

Thank you for the pics!
Is it just the picture, or is the bottom of the pot smaller dia than the top?

You’re welcome.
I’m not home to check. I think it’s straight-walled.
I’ll look and update on Sunday.

RE: New casting pots with built-in PID controllers
Thanks so much Hanz for going to the trouble of putting a tape over your pristine pot. Checking against my earlier Pro Melt, it appears the depth has shortened a tad ( older pot @5" deep ) and the diameter has increased a little. Probably only amounts to about 1/4" or so but at least its in the right direction. I will be interested in your feedback on this unit as , of the options currently available to me, this appears the most suitable. Guess I'll just have to order one then.
.. Gary, I'd be thinking the appearance in the photo is just due to the perspective given the close proximity of the camera making the bottom seem smaller.
.. thanks again Hanz.

New casting pots with built-in PID controllers
I’m happy to help when I can.
I just checked. It is a straight walled pot.
I don’t have a lot of casting experience so I wouldn’t give my review too much weight. It will be about a week until I can try it out. I can’t wait.
