Jim,

Smile I'm a slow learner. It took me 60 years to get to this point and I'm still erasing and redoing Smile

It's all I use in my .45-70 & .45-90.

Hi Gary,

How many grains of OE 2F do you use in your 45-90 ??

Thank you

Gerald Canada

That doesn't sound 'rite'.
Were you using new/fresh batteries in the crono?
My 83gn 'O'E load in my '90, is run right at 1350fps.

Gary, your velocity could be the results of thin Palmdale air Tongue!

It does sound low. If I remember correctly, my 83gr Swiss 1.5 load runs about 1280 fps. That's a 535gr GG bullet in a 32" barrel.

81 gr. of OE 1 1/2 and the 530 money bullet clocked 1340 at Raton from the CPA.

Another run 90*f day with a little thicker paper (25% cotton eaton) and a different primer shows 1218 fps with 543 gr brooks patched to .450. Same Swiss 1 1/2 at 81.0 gr. Muzzle to first screen 10 ft.

RE: Compression and Olde Eynsford
There is something strange going on there I think. That's almost exactly the same as my patched .45-70 load except that I use a 535gr bullet and it's definitely faster than what you are seeing. My chronograph is further away too.

More importantly, how does it shoot? :-)

RE: Compression and Olde Eynsford
Well, I've done some more loading with the 1 1/2 in the 38-50 and am settled on 46gr with .130 compression for the last BPCR here in OKC if I get back to Oklahoma in time.

I did stop at BA last month and picked up enough 2f OE to prove that out in my 40-65 next. I'll post progress here after November and hunting season.
